Whatever God has ordained no mortar can halt,God will for sure overturn and make His own decision the final

Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala former Minister of Finance and Economy, Nigeria has eventually been appointed as the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation {WTO} after months of election victory.

”BREAKING: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala from Nigeria is appointed as the next WTO Director-General. Dr. Okonjo-Iweala makes history as the first woman and the first African to lead the WTO. Her term starts on the 1st of March 2021. More details soon.” #WTODG@NOIweala WTO tweeted with a designed poster of her picture to break the same news.

Reacting to the news, President Muhammadu Buhari through his media aide, Garba Shehu promptly released an official statement through social media felicitating with her and saying WTO has brought joy and honour to Nigeria.

“On behalf of the Federal Government and all Nigerians, President @MBuhari warmly felicitates with former Minister of Finance and Economy, Dr @NOIweala on her election as Director General of the World Trade Organisation @wto, bringing joy and more honour to the country.”

You will recall President Buhari has always been very supportive of her personally and officially which has created a pool of supports from the countries in Africa and across the world except former President Donald Trump who had supported South Korea’s candidate against Iweala.

Non-supporting move of Donald Trump’s administration held the process down not until President Joe Biden disapproved the opposition and the position of USA became supportive in line with WTO’s membership consensus.

Importantly also was the pulling out of South Korea’s Yoo Myung-hee which eventually cleared the coast for Iweala as other candidates were not that formidable to tackle Nigerian/American technocrat.

Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala has always been first female in her career progression having served as the first female finance minister under two administrations in Nigeria. She also ran for World Bank presidency where she spent 25 years of her career and now the first female and African to head such a global organisation.

As she resumes officially on the 1st of March, 2020 at Kalo Africa Media, we felicitate with her, Africa and proudly Nigeria with Nigeria because this is what we aim at telling the world about the continent… everything positive. and now the first female and African to head a global organisation.
