One of the latest Grammy award recipients, Nigeria’s Burna Boy has expressed his excitement for receiving the Grammy award by advising young Africans to follow their dream and achieve what they plan to achieve because nothing can stop them.
He gave this advise while giving his speech after his name was announced among the contenders as the winner yesterday at the 63rd Grammy Awards which took place in United State of America.
“Africans we are in the house, this is a big win for my generation of Africans all over the World. And this should be a lesson to any Africans out there, no matter where you are, no matter what you plan to do you can achieve it. No matter where you are from because you are a king. Look at me now, Grammy award winning Burna Boy .Thank you to everyone.” He said excitedly.
Burna boy’s ”Twice As Tall” album won the Grammy in the Best global Music Album category beating other four contenders.
The 29 year old’s ”African Giant” album was nominated last year but could not win the Grammy then which went to legendary Angelique Kidjo.
Also winning from Nigeria is Wizkid through Beyonce’s “Brown Skin Girl” album for the best video category.
Several other Nigerians with dual citizens have won the Grammy in the past among whom were Sade Adu and Seal while the likes of Femi Kuti had been nominated in the past.
Grammy award this year ought to have taken place in January but due to covid-19 prevalent, it was shifted to recent time.
Several other Artistes won the Grammy from different categories among them was Kanye West.
