Promoters of domestic tourism in Nigeria have been recognised and honoured for their untiring efforts at discovering new places in Nigeria for both local and international tourists to visit.
The recognition came through an award ceremony by Naija Seven Wonders team held at the 2021 edition of Jabamah Tourism Expo which took place at Nicon Luxury Hotel Abuja, recently.
“During the lockdown some of us felt that this was an opportunity to promote Nigeria as a destination, and starting from June, we started the seven wonders of Nigeria,using zoom for over seventeen weeks and we connected over two hundred tour operators. By December last year there were more than one thousand group tours done by our members then we felt we needed to recognise those people, honour them and reward them”, said Ikechi Uko, the Convener and topmost tourism promoter in Nigeria.
Individuals, Corporate organisatons as well governments were recognised at the award ceremony which had a large number of tourism atakeholders in attendance.
Lagos State, Delta, Akwa Ibom, and host of other states were some of the states that received one award or the other for promoting their various destinations within the country.
Lagos state was among several other states that carted away most of the awards while several other individuals in tourism business were also received their award such as Kazeem Balogun, Founder, Kalo Africa media.
Earlier on, the Naija Seven Wonders team led by Ikechi Uko had released a long list of recipients in different categories that got recognition for promoting domestic tourism in Nigeria.
