Mr.Babajide Sanwo-Olu- governor,Lagos State has expressed his condolences at the passing of former first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jankande by describing his death as colossal loss to the state and Nigeria and humanity as a whole.
“With gratitude to God for a worthy life well spent in the service of Lagos State, Nigeria and humanity, I announce the death of a venerable statesman, outstanding politician, public administrator and the first Civilian Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande,” Sanwo-Olu tweetted.
“His death is a collosal loss and he will be missed”.“On behalf of the Government and people of Lagos State, I want to express my sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and comrades of Baba Jakande.”
Also sending in condolences,former governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Dankwambo sent message to Lagos State over Jakande’s death.
“My sincere condolences to the government of Lagos state and the immediate family of Pa. Lateef Kayode Jakande over the loss of their patriarch,” Dankwambo tweeted.
Jankande during his lifetime was a journalist of repute and a great leader who led well while serving his people in Lagos State.
On his part, Dankwambo described Jakande as a man who dedicate his life to the service of humanity and a true muslim that worship his God deligently.
More development are being expected from his family and the state on this burial, but according to Islamic rites, his body must be interred today before dawn. May God accept him and forgive his short comings.
