The Global Tourism Forum has started today in Jakarta, the Indonesian capital hosting an important line-up of tourism leaders and speakers.

The event was declared open by the country’s Vice President, H.E. Prof Ma’ruf Amin at the Raffles Hotel in Jakarta with a rousing opening speech which was followed by a welcome addresses by Dr. Sapta Nirwandar, the Chairman of Indonesia Tourism, Mr. Balut Bagci, the President of the World Tourism Forum Institute and Dr. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno and the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia.

Dr. Taleb Rifai, the former UNWTO Secretary General, currently Secretary General of the World Tourism Forum Institute and Patron of the African Tourism Board also addressed the gathering at the opening ceremony.

Other dignitaries at the Leadership Summit was an impressive line-up of speakers which included the Vice President of Turkey H.E. Fuat Oktay, H.E. Dato Dato Lim Jock Hoi, the Secretary General, ASEAN, H.E. Mr.Tony Blair, former PM,UK, Alain St.Ange, former Minister, Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports & Marine, Seychelles, currently President of the African Tourism Board & SG of FORSEAA among other distinguished speakers.

Interestingly, the ASEAN Tourism Ministers will also be holding a special session on the 2021 Tourism Personality named by Global Tourism Forum in the person of President of the Republic of Indonesia.
