Ensuring continuity and recovery of tourism in the country, Qatari authority has reopened the country to fully vaccinated travellers in readiness for the maiden edition of Qatar Travel Mart 2021, collaborating with African Tourism Board in hosting Africa’s tourism stakeholders in Doha.

“We are delighted to be able to open our doors once more and extend a friendly hand of hospitality to the many vaccinated travellers who can now come and experience Qatar”, Berthold Trenkel, Chief Operating Officer of Qatar Tourism said.

The Qatar Travel Mart, an international exhibition for travel and tourism which comes up on 16th-18th November, 2021 is expected to be a launching pad to recovering tourism and a test run to the bigger event, Qatar World Cup in 2022.

Reacting, Cuthbert Ncube, Chairman African Tourism Board, also expressed his enthusiasm at the news describing at the a big sgnal to tourism recovery.

“ATB is delighted to know the country is reopening and more enthuse at collaborating with Qatar Tourism Board and the news is a pointer to the fact that tourism is fully getting back. We will ensure that Africa is well represented as stipulated in our understanding.


Berthold Brenkerd however assured would be visitors to the country of their safety as adequate precautionary mechanisms have been put in place.

“Over the past 16 months we have implemented world-leading health and safety measures to protect, citizens, residents, and now visitors, against COVID-19, while also opening a host of new hotels, theme parks, restaurants, and top attractions.”

Africa is expected to be at the maiden edition of Qatar Travel Mart under the African Tourism Board’s Exhibition mega Booth for 3 days where the continent will also have the opportunity to speak at a dedicated conference on African tourism development.

” This is a great initiative from Qatar and a window of opportunity which Africa must take advantage of by ensuring participation through which the continent can connect to the global tourism market the more” . Ncube said.
