Forum Organising Committee Invited to Present Updates During Regular Diplomatic Meeting
As part of its ongoing preparations, the Organising Committee of the Africa Diplomatic Tourism and Investment Forum (ADTIF 2025) was formally invited to provide an update during the regular meeting of the Group of African High Commissioners and Ambassadors accredited to Mozambique. The session, hosted at the Polana Serena Hotel in Maputo, offered a unique opportunity to engage directly with key diplomatic representatives and present the progress, vision, and expected impact of the upcoming forum.
ADTIF 2025 is being organised by the African Tourism Board (ATB), the African Union Sixth Region Global (AU6RG), and the African Travel Commission (ATC), in partnership with Mozambique’s Ministry of Economy. The forum will take place from 20–22 August 2025 at the Joaquim Chissano International Conference Centre in Maputo, as part of Mozambique’s 50th Independence Anniversary commemorations.
During the meeting, Ambassador Mussagy Jeichande, Jeremias Manussa, and Linda Fernando, all members of the Forum Organising Committee, addressed the ambassadors and shared key updates.
Ambassador Mussagy Jeichande, Senior Diplomat and member of the Forum Organising Committee, highlighted the symbolic and diplomatic significance of the forum: “Mozambique is honoured to serve as host, but this forum belongs to all of Africa. It will offer a space for unity, policy dialogue, and investment partnerships that reflect our shared ambitions.”
Jeremias Manussa, Adviser to the Minister of Economy for Tourism and a member of the Organising Committee, emphasised the vast potential of Mozambique’s tourism sector. He proposed the organisation of a dedicated session exclusively for the diplomatic corps, aimed at providing a comprehensive briefing on the country’s key tourism assets and investment opportunities. He stressed the importance of ensuring that diplomatic missions have a clear understanding of what Mozambique offers as a destination for sustainable tourism and strategic investment.
Linda Fernando, Corporate Sector Partnership Lead at the African Tourism Board and National Director and Special Liaison for the Portuguese-Speaking African States for AU6RG and ECASR, member of the Forum Organising Committee, reaffirmed the inclusive nature of the event: “This platform invites every mission, every region, and every voice to participate. We are co-creating a forum that represents Africa’s diversity and collective potential. ADTIF is not about hosting an event, it is about building a platform that reflects Africa’s voice, ambition, and identity.”
The organising team presented the main components of the programme, including:
A Diplomatic and Business Exhibition featuring national showcases;
A FAM Trip (16–18 August) to the Bazaruto Archipelago and Maputo National Park;
High-level thematic panels covering regional integration, tourism financing, mobility, fintech, cultural identity, and sustainable development;
A dedicated session on “SADC Open Skies – A Strategic Dialogue for a Single Aviation Market”, in collaboration with the SADC Secretariat.
Diplomatic missions were invited to actively showcase their countries by sharing national narratives with the Mozambican public through the valuable platform that ADTIF provides. At the same time, the forum serves as a meaningful channel for their citizens to discover and appreciate the cultural, economic, and environmental richness of Mozambique and Africa at large.
Missions were also encouraged to:
Present speakers, investors, and cultural contributors as part of the programme;
Support engagement with their diaspora and private sector representatives;
Strengthen their countries’ visibility through curated media content, cultural showcases, and protocol collaboration.
Several ambassadors expressed appreciation for the clarity and ambition of the initiative, and signalled their intent to continue close coordination with the organisers to ensure meaningful and impactful participation.
ADTIF 2025 promises to be a landmark event, not only in celebration of Mozambique’s 50 years of independence, but as a pivotal step toward continental cooperation, regional visibility, and tourism-driven economic transformation.
