The Hive Hotel in Rome reverberated with a compelling vision of unity and transformation as Mr. Dine Bouraima, President of Consortium Touristes Par Million Au Benin (CTM-Benin) and Vice President of the African Tourism Board (ATB), delivered the second keynote address through a representation at the inaugural Africa-Europe Tourism Exchange Forum (AETEF) on the 16th May, 2025 in Rome, ltaly.
Organized by Globetrotters SA Ltd., led by Amb. Michelina Sanquest, and Kalo Africa Media, led by Amb. Kazeem Balogun, the high-level forum attracted influential voices from both continents. With the theme “Bridging Africa and Europe Through Tourism Exchanges,” Mr. Bouraima’s address stood out as a rallying cry for a more inclusive, sustainable, and collaborative tourism future.

The keynote speaker urged both continents to move beyond rhetoric and embrace actionable policies: bilateral tourism agreements, visa facilitation, enhanced air and sea connectivity, and joint cultural exchange programs. He stressed the importance of institutional innovation and digital transformation, pillars being advanced under his leadership at both CTM-Benin and the African Tourism Board.
Mr. Bouraima commended the early steps taken by the European Union in forging destination partnerships across Africa but cautioned that “more can and must be done.” He outlined a shared roadmap emphasizing youth mobility, heritage tourism, climate-conscious travel, and professional capacity-building.
Festivals, Itineraries, and People-Centered Growth
The most stirring moments of his speech came as he advocated for tourism initiatives that truly centres on people’swelfare. From proposing festivals that celebrate Afro-European creativity, to encouraging custom itineraries linking Rome to Dakar, Lisbon to Cotonou, and Paris to Cape Town, Bouraima laid out a vision of unity that transcends geography.
He called for reinvestment of tourism profits in ecosystem preservation, artisan empowerment, and local community development—placing dignity and sustainability at the heart of the tourism narrative.
