Leaders and Experts Discuss Challenges, Progress, and the Future of Gender Equality
On Saturday, March 8, 2025, the Africa Light Foundation, under the leadership of Ms. Fatim TOLLAH, hosted a special panel discussion to mark International Women’s Day 1025, held under the distinguished chairmanship of His Excellency Ambassador Eric TABA, Director of Protocol for the President of the Republic and Vice-Governor of the Autonomous District of Abidjan, the event provided a platform for critical dialogue on the theme: “Gender Equality in the 21st Century: Challenges, Progress, and Perspectives.”
The event took place at the Tous Unis pour Cocody Foundation, an initiative of HE Eric TABA, and gathered prominent personalities, experts, and community leaders to discuss key issues surrounding gender equality and women’s empowerment in Africa.

The panel featured renowned experts from various industries who shared their insights on the challenges and progress of gender equality, they included: Mrs. Fatou GOUEDAN DIARRA, Business Leader and President of Fondation Femme d’Afrique Lève-toi; Dr. Hervé Kouamé MICONDO, Colonel Doctor and Head of the Pediatrics Department at Abidjan Military Hospital; Mrs. Marie-Paule AGBADOU ATTA, Business Executive and Logistician and Ms. Judith AKÉ, Entrepreneur and Professional Makeup Artist.
Ms. Sophie PÉPÉ, President, LA PORTE DE LA NOUVELLE ESPÉRANCE (L’ONG-LAPNE) also raised awareness about the factors that promote breast and cervical cancer, while other NGO leaders and professionals from various fields contributed positively, thereby creating a dynamic exchange of ideas and solutions for advancing gender equality.

The panel discussions provided a high-level platform for exchange, where experts tackled pressing issues related to gender equity, social inclusion, and professional opportunities for women in the 21st century. The event concluded with a distribution of gifts to participants and a networking cocktail reception, allowing for further engagement among attendees.
