Turkish Ambassador to Qatar, H.E Yakup Caymazoğlu has praised the address delivered by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, before the Shura Council, describing it as a reflection of the country’s resilience, institutional strength and determination to overcome regional challenges while safeguarding its sovereignty and pursuing peaceful solutions.
In a statement following the Amir’s address at the opening of the Shura Council’s 55th annual session, Ambassador Caymazoğlu said Qatar had demonstrated its ability to confront exceptional circumstances through responsible leadership, economic resilience and forward-looking policies designed to prepare for crises and mitigate their consequences.
“What particularly struck me in HH the Amir’s address was the confidence he expressed in Qatar’s ability to overcome this phase and continue its journey with determination, despite the exceptional circumstances the region has experienced,” the Ambassador said.
He added: “His assurance that Qatar will emerge from this crisis more resilient and better equipped to adapt to global changes reflects the country’s commitment to learning from challenges and preparing for the future”.
The Turkish diplomat highlighted Qatar’s remarkable transformation over recent decades, attributing its progress to the vision of its leadership and its sustained commitment to building a modern, prosperous and capable state.
He noted that the foundations of development and modernization established by His Highness the Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, continue to guide the country’s advancement under the leadership of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Addressing the security and diplomatic dimensions of the Amir’s speech, Caymazoğlu emphasized the importance of balancing national defense with efforts to prevent further regional escalation.
He said the Amir’s determination to protect Qatar’s sovereignty and security, while maintaining diplomatic initiatives aimed at restoring dialogue and negotiations, demonstrated an approach that combines firmness in defending national interests with a commitment to regional peace.
The Ambassador also underscored Qatar’s strategic importance to international energy security.
As a major supplier of liquefied natural gas, Qatar plays a significant role in global energy markets, he noted, adding that the country’s stability has implications extending far beyond the Gulf region.
Any disruption to Qatar’s security or energy production, he explained, could affect international markets, the broader global economy and the safety of maritime navigation.
Turning to regional developments, the Ambassador welcomed the positions expressed by the Amir regarding the Palestinian question.
He stressed the importance of protecting the Palestinian people, ending violations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, upholding international law and ensuring accountability for those responsible.
Caymazoğlu also highlighted the need for sustained international efforts to reach comprehensive political settlements in Sudan, Libya, Yemen and Somalia.
Such settlements, he emphasized, must preserve the territorial integrity and unity of these countries while creating the conditions for lasting peace, security and stability for their peoples.
On domestic development, the Turkish Ambassador welcomed the priority given by Qatar’s leadership to education and investment in human capital.
He stressed that meaningful development cannot be measured solely by economic indicators, but must also be reflected in the ability of societies to prepare future generations for emerging challenges.
Providing young people with knowledge, practical skills and opportunities to contribute to national progress, he said, remains essential to achieving sustainable prosperity.
Concluding his statement, Ambassador Caymazoğlu reaffirmed his appreciation for Qatar’s diplomatic and humanitarian engagement.
“HH the Amir’s address reflects Qatar’s determination to safeguard its security and sovereignty, sustain its development, and continue playing its diplomatic and humanitarian role in the region,” he said.
“We appreciate Qatar’s efforts to promote dialogue and resolve conflicts through peaceful means, and hope these efforts will help overcome the current crises, strengthen regional security and stability, and give the peoples of the region greater hope for a peaceful future”.
The Ambassador’s remarks come as Qatar continues to navigate the consequences of regional instability while seeking to maintain its economic momentum and diplomatic engagement.
His statement underscores the importance attached by Türkiye to Qatar’s stability, regional dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution, reflecting priorities that have long shaped cooperation between Ankara and Doha.
